Dear friends of W+K TOKYO LAB,
In mid 2008, Tokyo Lab will present its 10th Hybrid CD/DVD release. To celebrate our 5th year, we are planning to create a compilation DVD of our best works, along with a 120 page book of new material featuring all our collaborators to date. The book is about Tokyo and we’d love for you to contribute to it. The title of the book is Tokyo.Ten.

TEN - Point. Dot. Punctuation.
In Japanese, the above Kanji is pronounced Ten, and it means Point.
A point is a moment in time, a dot, a location, and a reason for doing something.
We invite you to do just that… make your point about Tokyo.
Place your own “dot” on Tokyo.
What’s the “point” or mark that makes Tokyo different?
a POV, a physical location, a point or a moment in time.
What do you think of when you think of “Tokyo”?

ARTIST : VISUAL POINT
We are inviting everyone we’ve ever collaborated with on Tokyo Lab to interpret this question through their own unique voice, creating your own visual point about the power of Tokyo and Japanese culture.
Your response can be created in any medium you choose, which will be expressed as a visual spread in the book. Additionally, you can also give us written statements, thoughts, or even just a few words about Tokyo, which will also go in the book.
In the end, your work will be part of a giant collection, creating a panorama of what inspires a wide variety of global creators about Tokyo. Your work will be published along with your name, and in return, you will receive a copy of the book+DVD as a package upon its release.

ARTIST : PROCESS
In 2008 a book can no longer be just a book, but rather a media hybrid, connected to forces from the online world, interactive and motion media.
BLOOK : BLOG + BOOK

The process of making this book will be public online, sharing among all the collaborators involved. To facilitate this, we will set up a blog to expose the process each artist goes through in their creation.
They log into this site with their unique username and password, and post work in progress, inspirations, questions, or anything. It becomes a communication hub in the process of making the book.
This URL will be exposed in the final book. Anyone can go see the entire backlog of process that lead up to the book’s creation.
We would ideally like to receive two process images from each artist before their final work submissions.

PROCESS IMAGE
A lores jpg, illustrator art, photo or whatever you do to visualize your piece.
FINAL ART WORK
We will need to receive contributed artworks in the following format:
A3 size / 350 DPI .psd / .tiff OR .ai file.

W+K東京LABは2008年、立ち上げから５年を記念して、10枚目のリリースとしてDVD+Bookによるハイブリッド・アルバムをリリースします。東京ＬＡＢで制作した作品のベストコンピレーションＤＶＤと、これまで私たちがコラボレーションした方々をフィーチャーした１２０頁のＢＯＯＫを制作する予定です。ＢＯＯＫは東京をテーマにしたもので、これまでにコラボレーションさせて頂いた皆様に、プロジェクトに参加していただきたいと思っています。ＢＯＯＫのタイトルは『Tokyo.Ten』です。

Tokyo.点
TEN - 点。ドット。ポイント。
「点（てん）」は英語で「ポイント」という意味です。点という漢字を他の字と組み合わせると、英語の「ポイント」のように様々な意味を持ちます。たとえば１点、時点、地点、要点、観点など。
このプロジェクトは皆さまに東京の様々な「点」を表現していただくというものです。ぜひ東京にあなたの「点（ドット）」を加えてください。
たとえば東京が他の街と違う「点」はなんですか？

「東京」を考えたときにどんな事を思いますか？
なぜあなたにとって特別なのですか？

アーティスト：ビジュアルポイント
これまで東京ＬＡＢとコラボレーションしたすべてのヴィジュアルアーティストの方、約40名強に、このプロジェクトへの参加をお願いしています。この質問を自分のボイスを通して解釈していただき、日本の文化と東京のパワーに対するあなたのビジュアルポイントをつくっていただきたいのです。
表現形態、媒体は自由です。作成して頂いた作品は見開き1ページとして、ブックの中で紹介します。ビジュアルに加えて、東京に対する思いを文章や言葉で提出していただいても構いません。
最終的にあなたの作品は、世界のクリエイターたちを刺激している東京の様々な要素をパノラマ化した、巨大なコレクションの一部となります。作成していただいた作品はお名前と共にブックに掲載いたします。また参加していただいた皆様にはリリース時にブック＋ＤＶＤのセットを送らせていただきます。

２００８年の本はただの本ではなく、オンライン、インタラクティブ、そしてモーションメディアとつながった、ハイブリッド・メディアになります。
ＢＬＯＯＫ：ブログ＋ブック

この本の制作過程は参加しているコラボレーター同士がオンライン上で共有できるようにします。ブログを設置し、各アーティストの制作プロセスを紹介していきます。
アーティストの皆さまはユーザーＩＤとパスワードでサイトにログインすることができ、進行状況、インスピレーション、質問などなんでもポスティングしていただけます。ここはこのブックを制作するプロセスのコミュニケーションハブとなります。
最終的にはこのサイトのＵＲＬをブックで公表し、このブックの制作過程の全てのバックログを公開します。
尚、皆さまには完成作品を提出する前に、進行中の作品イメージを２度送っていただきます。
