As densely populated as Tokyo is, people lack the sensation of touch among each other. Long work days prevent couples from maintaining healthy relationships. The birthrate is declining, intimacy among people is dramatically low, and people in general are deprived of the warmth of others. It is also looked down upon to show signs of affection in public thus people are deprived of the opportunity for physical comfort from another when not in the privacy of their home.

This is a “point” about Tokyo culture that is oddly kept quite, and most of the time invisible on the surface.

- WKTLAB’s 10th release, Tokyo.Ten is a compilation of DVD, Book and Blog that chronicles our entire audiovisual output since we began five years ago. We celebrate the “point” of Tokyo with our partners-in-crime, Lab Artists Takagi Masakatsu, DJ Uppecut, Hifana and Afra and all the creatives we have collaborated with. The DVD contains ten of our favorite music videos from the nine albums as well as some B-side selects. It also premieres the new video Maledict Car, introducing our latest music artist Jemapur, offering a peek into our next journey. In addition, Takagi’s Hill will be included in DVD for the first time. The book features a visual remix of our first nine releases to date, followed by original artwork from some of the visual artists involved in the creation of these albums as well as future potential partners. 42 artists from inside and outside of Japan offer their perspectives on Tokyo and Japanese culture, and place their own “dot” on these pages. This blog documents the participating artists’ thoughts and process as they concept, sketch, fabricate, illustrate, and refine their art for this book. As a dynamic extension to the book, www.wktokyolab.com/ten offers us a rare glimpse and insight into the artists’ creative process, allowing us to connect with the book on a different level.
- W+K東京LABの記念すべき10枚目のリリースとなる“Tokyo.点”は、これまでにつくられた音楽と映像を集めた、コンピレーション・ブック＋DVD＋ブログで構成されている。これは、高木正勝、DJ Uppercut、Hifana、Afra、これまでにコラボレートしたすべてのクリエイターたちと東京の「点」をセレブレイトする作品だ。DVDにはこれまでの9リリースから厳選されたミュージックビデオ10作品と「B-Side」としてセレクトされた8作品が収録されている。さらに、W+K東京LABの新しいアーティストJemapurの新作 “Maledict Car”、初のDVD化となる高木正勝の映像作品“Hill”も収録。256ページにわたるbookには、9リリースのアートワークのビジュアル・リミックスをフィーチャー。さらに、これまでにコラボレートした、そしてこれからコラボレートする可能性のある国内外のアーティスト42名によるアートワークを収録。このblogでは参加アーティストのインスピレーションや制作過程を見ることで、ブックの体験をさらに深めることができる。
